ACCOUNTING

This is an introductory course in accounting where you will learn the terminology and accounting practices used in the business world. Learn how to process accounting transactions and the application of double-entry accounting systems.  You will gain understanding of cash transactions, chart of accounts, accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations, preparation of general journal entries and postings, equipment and other assets, liabilities, owner’s equity and financial statements.

You will prepare business financial statements and closing entries, learn about computerized systems, payroll, and financial statements analysis. Throughout this course, we will build on information and the sequential steps of the accounting cycle from beginning to end for a fiscal/calendar year.  This process will correlate to understanding the data entry used in the QuickBooks platform.

Students will be required to complete homework assignments and a comprehensive exercise.  Students who pass this course will be issued a Certificate of Completion.

Please enroll in and attend the Accounting, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Excel Orientation.

Prerequisite Skills: 

Basic computer knowledge, spreadsheet experience, and high school math skills.
